UNION COUNTY, N.C. — A Monroe pastor was charged with sex crimes against a child Monday, according to WBTV.

Ahmed Lee, 36, is charged with indecent liberties with a child and assault on a child under the age of 12 for a 2014 incident. Authorities told WBTV that the child was just 11 years old when the alleged assault occurred.

WBTV reported that Lee is the pastor of “Judah House of Praise International World Ministries” in Monroe. Officers said the victim’s family attended the church and the assault allegedly happened at Lee’s home.

The victim’s mother told WBTV the incident happened when Lee invited the family over for lunch one Sunday. She told WBTV that Lee sexually assaulted her son in the bathroom.

The woman’s son kept the incident a secret until about a month ago.

“Darkness will come to light and I hope that with bringing this corrupt behavior to the light will help others who may have been hurt will come forward,” the mother said.

Police say they are still trying to determine whether there are other victims.

Lee is being held in the Union County jail under a $20,000 bond.
