GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office has released new information about a robbery and wreck that injured a deputy Thursday night.

Guilford County Sheriff’s Deputy C.R. Holt was injured in a wreck following a robbery at the Pyramid Village Shopping Center and a subsequent chase, according to Sheriff BJ Barnes.

Holt was responding to assist Greensboro Police with a vehicle chase around 8 p.m. when he met the suspect’s vehicle traveling south on the off ramp from the northbound side of U.S. 29 to Hicone Road.

The suspect intentionally hit Holt’s patrol car head-on, bring both vehicles to a crashing halt, according to Barnes.

The suspect then fled the scene on foot, running to a home on Arvid Drive in Greensboro.

Deputies say the suspect entered the house, assaulted the homeowner and then attempted to kidnap both residents of the home.

The residents were able to get away, but the suspect stole the victim’s 2008 green and gray Hyundai Santa Fe with the North Carolina license plate ZXB-6246. Deputies say the vehicle also has a Washington Redskins front license plate.

Holt was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries and released.
