GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. -- Deputies with the Guilford County Sheriff's Office have arrested a man who they believe was buying and selling stolen property across the county.

Billy Lee Brooks is charged with felony receiving stolen property.

Capt. Randy Shepherd said about six deputies have been working undercover for the last six months.

Shepherd said many of the items still have Lowes or Wal-Mart tags still on the products.

Treasure Chest has been open for about six weeks but investigators believe Brooks sold the stolen property at flea markets beforehand.

"If other businesses in the county or the city are likewise taking in property they know to be stolen, they never know who they're selling it to. It could be one of our undercover officers that they're selling to . So if they're doing it in Guilford County, we would like for them to close up business and move elsewhere please, or we may come and put them out of business like we did this place," Shepherd said.

On April 19, deputies executed two search warrants; one at 3501 Burlington Road in Greensboro and the other at 3712 U.S. 29 North.

Detectives said they are still working to determine the owners of any recovered stolen property.
