There's a great way for your family to get some exercise and help a good cause next weekend in Trinity.

The Run 5 Feed 5 event kicks off at Trinity High School on April 23 at 8 a.m.

The race helps raise money for the Backpals Program through Community Outreach of Archdale-Trinity.

COAT currently supports 10 schools in the Archdale/Trinity area including Allen Jay, Archdale Elementary, Trinity Elementary, Trindale Elementary, Hopewell Elementary, John Lawrence Elementary, Braxton Craven, Archdale-Trinity Middle School, Trinity High School and Wheatmore High School.

Last week more than 400 bags of food were provided to students who are food insecure.

The cost of these 400 bags of food is more than $2,000 per week. If that number were to stay the same all year, it would cost $80,000 to fund it for the entire school year.

There is no funding for this program, it is provided by donations alone. The goal for the Run 5 Feed 5 event is to raise enough for a full school year.
