Kalynn Homfeld, 41, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon, according to KWES.

Police were called to the Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in reference to a theft of a ring on Saturday.

Surveillance footage obtained by KOSA showed a woman reaching into 88-year-old Louis Hicks' casket and taking her ring.

The suspect reportedly tore off part of Hicks' skin while trying to remove the jewelry, according to the Odessa American.

“I can’t believe someone would be that low," said Vel McKee, Hicks' daughter.

McKee said she and other family members had left Sunset Funeral Home just before a woman walked in looking for a restroom. Instead of going to the restroom, that same woman ended up by Hicks' casket.

If Homfeld is found guilty, KWES reports she could spend up to two years behind bars.
