Police in Greensboro identify homicide victim

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Police are investigating a homicide reported at a home in Greensboro on Friday afternoon.

Greensboro police said they were called to 4610 Brompton Drive shortly after 1 p.m. in reference to a shooting call.

Arriving officers found an adult victim inside the home with a gunshot wound. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene. The victim has been identified as Nijah Daejour Jones, 19, of Rocky Mount, N.C.

Witnesses described the suspect as a black male with braided hair who was last seen wearing a white shirt and blue jeans.

Police said they have cordoned off the area and have initiated a search for the suspect. Authorities said they are in the early stages of the investigation.
