DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. – One man is dead and two other people are injured after a crash in Davidson County on Saturday afternoon.

Robert Lee Stokes, 70, of Lexington, has died and Kenneth Wayne Smith, 48, of Lexington, and his teenage son were injured, according to Trooper JZ Johnson.

The wreck was reported at about 2:19 p.m. Saturday on Hwy 8 near Wafford Road, according to Davidson County communications.

Stokes was in a 2002 PT Cruiser and Smith and his son were in a 2000 Silverado pickup truck, according to the trooper.

The trooper said the driver of the PT Cruiser was trying to turn from Gray Road headed north onto Hwy 8 and was hit by the truck.

Smith and his son were taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Their conditions have not been released.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is consulting the district attorney on possible charges. The investigation is ongoing.
