PHILADELPHIA — East Region No. 1-seed North Carolina moved into the Final Four in the NCAA men’s college basketball tournament Sunday, beating No. 6-seed Notre Dame 88-74.

The Fighting Irish started off strong but eventually ran out of luck.

The Tar Heels are the only No. 1-seed to advance to the Final Four. It will be the school’s first trip to the Final Four since 2009 when Carolina crushed Michigan State to win a fifth title.

North Carolina will play Syracuse next Saturday in Houston.
