Crowd assaults man after High Point wreck

HIGH POINT, N.C. — Police have made an arrest in connection with an assault following a High Point wreck.

Dequan Keith Cash, 21,  was charged with misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon.

Officers with the High Point Police Department responded to a wreck on East Commerce Avenue and Evans Place Tuesday.

Upon arrival, authorities determined that a vehicle driven by Tyqunn Hinson ran a stop sign and struck a juvenile on a dirt bike.

After the wreck, a large crowd gathered at the scene and began assaulting Hinson.

Hinson was taken to the hospital for minor injuries following the assault. The juvenile who was operating the dirt bike was also transported.

Hinson has since been released.

High Point police are still trying to identify the others involved in the assault.

Cash posted a $1,500 secured bond.
