Brandon Eugene Bailey, 19, of High Point, has been charged with felony speeding to elude arrest and numerous misdemeanors and driving infractions.

A state trooper was on the shoulder of northbound Business 85 for a traffic stop when a red Dodge Neon allegedly sped by him at about 100 mph.

The trooper returned to his vehicle and began to chase the speeding car, according to Highway Patrol Trooper Chris Knox.

The driver of the speeding car exited at Brentwood Street, crossed over Business 85 and headed south, according to Knox.

With the trooper in pursuit, the driver of the red Dodge allegedly sped up to 140 mph.

Knox said the driver tried to turn on to Mendenhall Street in the Thomasville area, lost control and crashed into a tree and a power pole. EMS responded and examined the driver and a passenger. Neither were injured.

The suspect was jailed under a $1,000 secured bond.

Nathan Elliott, a local professional tractor-trailer driver, provided dash cam video to FOX8 that shows part of the incident.
