WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A 12-year-old boy was hit by a vehicle Thursday morning in Winston-Salem.

According to the Winston-Salem Police Department, a vehicle was traveling southbound in the right-hand lane of University Parkway near Northwest Boulevard just before 9 a.m. when the accident happened.

The 12-year-old was hit after he stepped out into oncoming traffic while trying to cross the street.
