ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office arrested a woman they say shot a man in the face.

Cori Brooks Mayhew, 23, was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Deputies were called to a reported shooting at 740 Barringer St. in Salisbury around midnight on Sunday.

There, deputies found the 22-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. He was taken to a hospital in Winston-Salem for treatment.

Evidence from the scene indicated that the incident began as an argument between the victim and Mayhew.

Mayhew was placed in jail without bond based on the domestic nature of the assault.
