Man charged with murder in homicide of man at Graham apartment complex

GRAHAM, N.C. – Police have arrested a man accused of murdering another man at a Graham apartment complex on Friday night.

Willie Clinton Mack, 45, faces a charge of second-degree murder in connection to the death of 37-year-old Derick Ulysses Alston.

Graham police said they were called to Oak Village Apartments in the 400 block of Kernodle Drive shortly after 9 p.m. Friday in reference to a reported disturbance.

Police said both the suspect and the victim lived at the apartment complex, the victim at 425 C Kernodle Drive and the suspect at 423 A Kernodle Drive.

The victim was pronounced dead by emergency responders after being found at the suspect’s apartment. He suffered an apparent knife wound to the upper right chest, causing exsanguination.

Police said a confrontation took place, which ultimately resulted in Mack murdering Alston. A motive or other details surrounding the circumstances of the events have not been released.

The suspect was arrested at the scene, charged with second-degree murder and placed in the Alamance County jail under a $500,000 secured bond. He has court planned for Monday.
