Adorable, but frightened sloth rescued from highway

QUEVEDO, Ecuador — A long-haired sloth is safe after officials in Ecuador rescued him from the highway.

According to the Independent, officers from the Transit Commission of Ecuador discovered the adorable sloth clinging to a guard rail in the city of Quevedo.

Officials took photos of the sloth, which seemed to smile for the camera as it continued to cling to the barrier.

The Transit Commission said the sloth that captured hearts all over the world was checked out by a vet before being returned to its natural habitat.

Photos of the sloth have been shared more than 12,000 times on Facebook.
