RALEIGH, N.C. – Nine people in North Carolina – including two in Randolph County – won at least $50,000 during Saturday’s Powerball drawing.

The two $50,000 tickets in Randolph County were sold at the Kangaroo Express on East Swannanoa Avenue in Liberty and Han-Dee Hugo’s on U.S. 220 Business North in Randleman.

The tickets matched numbers on four of the white balls and the red Powerball, but because they were $2 tickets the prize was not multiplied, according to the lottery.

There were four other tickets sold across North Carolina that won $150,000 and three other tickets sold in the state that won $50,000.

Powerball sales on Saturday also helped to set a new single-day record for lottery ticket sales in the state of $23.3 million, including $17.2 million from Powerball alone.

Nobody won the $900 million grand prize. The jackpot is now an estimated $1.3 billion and will be drawn on Wednesday.
