UNCG names interim police chief
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Associate Vice Chancellor for Safety and Risk Management Rollin Donelson has been chosen to serve as the University of North Carolina at Greensboro’s interim chief of police, the university announced Wednesday.
Donelson will take over for former UNCG Chief of Police Jamie Herring, who retired from UNCG on Dec. 31.
Donelson has more than 40 years of experience in higher education law enforcement. He served with the University of Texas at Austin Police Department for 20 years before serving as UNCG’s chief of police from 2000 to 2008.
A search for the new chief of police is well underway, the university said.
The university anticipates that the search committee will finalize the selection process in February and the final candidate will be announced in March.
