DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. -- County leaders are trying to add security at the historic Wil-Cox Bridge to keep vandals from destroying it.
Security cameras and lighting will be put up around the bridge by the spring, according to Planning Director Guy Cornman.
Since December, county leaders say the pedestrian bridge has been spray-painted with graffiti on its walls and railing.
Furniture and trash have also been dumped along the 21-acres of land surrounding it.
The vandalism comes just months after the county got ownership of the bridge in August and started cleaning it up.
"It's just frustrating, can't seem to have anything anymore,” Cornman said.
