ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — Two people are facing charges after Rowan County deputies say they stole one man’s car and tried to rob another man at his home.

According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, it all started around 6:30 a.m. Sunday at 5520 Sherrill’s Ford Road in Salisbury.

The victim told deputies that a woman outside Graham’s Grill flagged him down on his way to work.

According to deputies, the woman told the victim she was having car trouble and was on the way to see her baby. The victim offered the woman a ride to her home on West Innes Street in Salisbury and she got into his truck.

The victim told deputies that as he looked back around after unlocking the passenger side door he saw a man armed with a shotgun standing at his window. The man then ordered him to get out of the driver’s seat and into the back seat, which he did.

Deputies said the victim was able to get out of the truck and run home, where he called 911.

Shortly after the carjacking, another man claimed the same couple tried to rob him at his home at 225 Stanwyck Road, just two miles away from where the carjacking took place.

The second victim told deputies he heard a knock and found a woman at his front door. When the victim asked how he could help the woman, he was confronted by a man with a shotgun.

According to deputies, the suspects fled the area on foot when the victim began yelling and backing into his home.

While investigating the attempted robbery, deputies found the first victim’s 2012 Dodge Ram pickup sitting partially in the roadway with the engine still running on Spicewood Lane in Salisbury.

Deputies took the truck in to be processed as evidence.

Shortly after the truck was towed, deputies received reports of a suspicious woman hiding behind vehicles at 3041 Sherrill’s Ford Road.

The woman was taken into custody after deputies confirmed that she matched the description of the female suspect involved in the carjacking and attempted robbery.

Blanca Garcia Alejandre, 19, was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, larceny of a motor vehicle, second-degree kidnapping and resisting a public officer. She was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $125,000 bond.

The second suspect, Juan Alonso, was taken into custody Sunday night after a homeowner found him sleeping under his trailer. Deputies found the first victim’s wallet in Alonso’s back pocket, as well as a pocket knife taken from the victim’s truck.

Alonso was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, larceny of a motor vehicle, and second-degree kidnapping. He was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $350,000 bond.
