Burlington man in critical condition after wreck; speed, alcohol suspected factors

BURLINGTON, N.C. – A Burlington man was critically injured after the car he was driving went off the road, across a median and hit several trees.

Antonio Ulloa-Jandres, 36, was taken by Duke Lifeflight to UNC Hospital for treatment, according to the Burlington Police Department.

Police responded to the crash shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Bland Boulevard. Speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors.

Ulloa-Jandres was driving a 2003 Honda Civic that went off the road, crossed a median and struck several trees, according to police. No other vehicles were involved.

The car sustained an estimated $8,000 worth of damage. While police said alcohol was believed to have been a factor, police have not said how much was involved.
