2 charged with murder after body found on US 52 in Winston-Salem last month

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Winston-Salem police have charged two people with murder in the death of 23-year-old Jaquan Manchezor Rodman.

Tishaun Juawn Weaks, 26, and Christopher Earl Vargas Jr., 25, both of Winston-Salem, are each charged with first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping.

Officers with the Winston-Salem Police Department began searching for Rodman at 12:37 a.m. on Nov. 17 after receiving information that he had been kidnapped.

During the search, a driver traveling north on U.S. 52 discovered a body on the side of the road and called police.

After responding to the scene, officers found Rodman’s body.

Evidence collected at the scene indicated that Rodman had suffered at least one gunshot wound.

Weaks and Vargas are being held without bond and are scheduled to appear in court Jan. 7, 2016.

No booking photos will be released, Winston-Salem police said.
