Forsyth County murder victim, suspect identified

FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — One person is dead following a shooting in Forsyth County and deputies are investigating it as a homicide.

The call came in at 11:14 a.m. regarding a shooting along Stony Brook Boulevard outside Winston-Salem.

Deputies responded to 235 Stoney Brook Blvd., Lot No. 341, and found an adult male victim with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

The victim was identified Tuesday night by Chief Deputy Brad Stanley as 31-year-old James Nicholas Naylor, of the residence.

Stanley said a suspect was located within minutes of deputies arriving on the scene and was taken into custody.

On Tuesday night, Stanley said the suspect was identified as William Ryan Marks, 53, also of the residence.

Marks has been charged with murder and is currently confined in the Forsyth County Detention Center with no bond allowed.

Marks is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 7, 2016.
