MCLEANSVILLE, N.C. -- It was the first home the Hall family says they've ever owned. And now it's gone.

An early morning fire destroyed the trailer on Meadowlane Circle.

Donna Hall said she, her husband and their four kids were not home at the time, but got word of the fire from neighbors.

"I swallowed my heart," Hall said. "My leg was shaking. I was crying. I was upset. Showing up to everything you own -- gone."

Hall said she's most concerned about sentimental items that are irreplaceable.

"The kids' pictures. The baby books," she said.

Hall said her hope is that she and her husband can still provide her young children with the Christmas they deserve.

"We were struggling before," Hall said. "We have four kids to care of, it's hard. You live week to week. Now you have to live week to week with no home."

Hall said her family is getting assistance from the Red Cross. Fire investigators have not yet returned calls about what caused the fire.
