DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — A Davidson County school bus driver was charged in a wreck that sent one student to the hospital Friday morning.

The bus, with 42 students on board,  was headed to Wallburg Elementary School at 7:30 a.m. when the wreck happened.

According to Trooper Ned Moultrie III, the driver of the school bus, 37-year-old Amy Parker, was making a left-hand turn onto Horneytown Road from Westover Drive and did not yield to a Dodge Charger traveling south on Horneytown Road.

The bus and truck collided, causing minor damages to both vehicles.

None of the five people in the Dodge Charger were injured in the crash.

One student suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital by her mother.

Three children were picked up by their parents at the scene and the remaining students were transported by bus to Wallburg Elementary.

Parker was cited for failure to yield.
