One injured after shooting reported inside Winston-Salem hotel room

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — One person was taken to the hospital after a shooting inside a hotel room in Winston-Salem on Sunday morning, according to police.

Winston-Salem police said it happened at about 8 a.m. in room 322 at the Baymont Inn and Suites at 200 Mercantile Drive.

Officers arrived on the scene to find the victim suffering a gunshot wound. Police said the victim was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim has been identified as 20-year-old Khalil Raheem Craig of Winston-Salem.

The suspect has been described as a black male between 20 and 30 years old wearing dark clothing with his face covered.

Details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting has not been released.
