COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A 7-year-old boy and his parents were shot and killed in their Ohio home Monday night, according to WTHR.

The victims were identified as John E. Anderson II, 31, and Christina Chaffin Anderson, 30, and their 7-year-old son, Landon Anderson.

Their 12-year-old daughter, Makyleigh, was also shot and rushed to the hospital.  She is in critical condition at Nationwide Children's Hospital.

The Columbus Dispatch reported that a woman called 911 at 5 p.m., saying that her husband was shot by an intruder and that the man was still inside the home.

When police arrived on the scene they saw a man, later identified as 50-year-old Barry Kirk, running out of the family's home. Kirk was shot multiple times and killed.

Police told The Columbus Dispatch that Kirk lived just across the street from the family.

Investigators are still trying to determine a motive for the deadly confrontation.
