SURRY COUNTY, N.C. – A North Carolina state trooper hit and killed a pedestrian in Surry County on Saturday night, according to authorities.
The single-vehicle wreck happened at about 6 p.m. on Interstate 74 eastbound, a little less than a mile from NC-89. The identity of the male victim has not been released.
The victim was in the road, according to a state trooper on the scene. The investigating trooper said it was not clear why the man was in the road.
There was significant damage to the trooper’s patrol vehicle. The unidentified trooper driving was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
