Child struck by vehicle while waiting for school bus in SC

CHESTER, S.C. — A child was struck by a vehicle while waiting for the school bus Tuesday morning in South Carolina, according to WBTV.

Officials said the 11-year-old boy, who is a fifth-grader at Chester Park Center of Literacy through Technology, was struck on Ashford Street around 7:30 a.m.

He was rushed to the hospital in Chester before being airlifted to Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte.

WBTV reported that the boy’s school released a statement saying, “Our thoughts and prayers are with this young student and his family at this very difficult time.”

The school district is working with authorities to investigate the incident.
