Winston-Salem firefighters put out vacant house fire
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Crews are back on the scene of a house fire that started Sunday morning to put out several flare-ups.
The fire was reported at a vacant home on 726 Lynn Dee Drive at 9:13 a.m.
Firefighters said that the smoke from the fire was visible from as far away as downtown, but it wasn’t immediately visible from nearby homes because the house is located in a densely wooded neighborhood.
The first units on the scene found that two-thirds of the home was engulfed and the roof had partially collapsed.
Firefighters were on the scene until just before 10:30 p.m. trying to determine what sparked the fire.
Officials said the family had just moved into another house and were still in the process of moving.
The fire is still under investigation.
