Friends say slain Greensboro delivery driver took bullet for co-worker

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Bridget Risinger, 19, sat on the concrete and watched as her manager wept, burying her face into a makeshift memorial for co-worker Bakri Khidir Mohamed Khidir, who was shot to death Sunday night.

“I think it should have been me,” Risinger said. “He has two babies at home, and I don’t.”

Investigators said Khidir died while delivering food to a vacant house, a delivery he wasn’t supposed to make.

Risinger planned to take the order to 4224 Farlow Road, but Khidir, 29, volunteered instead.
