FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — An 18-year-old was convicted Wednesday of punching an East Forsyth High School teacher during an altercation with another student, breaking the teacher’s nose and causing long-term injuries.

Dante Isaiah Thomas of Lyons Walk Drive pleaded guilty in Forsyth Superior Court to felony assault inflicting serious bodily injury and misdemeanor assault on school personnel.

Judge David Hall of Forsyth Superior Court gave Thomas a suspended sentence of 10 months to 21 months in prison and placed him on supervised probation for three years.
