NORTH POLE, Alaska — You better watch out: A man named Santa Claus is running for City Council in the North Pole.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported that Claus is one of four candidates who have launched write-in campaigns for a City Council seat in North Pole, Alaska.

Santa Claus is the candidate’s real legal name on his driver’s license, according to the paper.

Claus is the former North Pole Chamber of Commerce president. He’s one of two candidates who have launched write-in campaigns for the seat.

If Claus wants to win, he will need voters to write in his name on the election on Tuesday.

A website for the “Santa Claus of the North Pole, Alaska” is linked on the North Pole Chamber of Commerce website.

On the Santa website, Claus describes himself as “a volunteer advocate for millions of children who have been abused, neglected, exploited, abandoned, homeless, and institutionalized.”

There are numerous pictures of him online and yes, he has a large white beard and looks a lot like Santa.
