ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. -- Rockingham County emergency crews have had a busy 24 hours.

EMS Director Johnny Bowles tells FOX8 they’ve responded to at least 12 trees down, multiple roads closed due to flooding, eight calls for electrical hazards because of trees in power lines, and one very dramatic water rescue Monday night.

Golf courses such as Deep Springs County Club had flooding too and had to close for the day. “We went so long without rain we did need the rain, but we’ve gotten too much too quick. We had over 11 inches here since last Thursday,” explained General Manager John Budwine.

Wolf Island Road in Reidsville was closed because of flooding, also near a golf course, and the creek there overflowed across the road all day.

The boat ramp in Eden off Bethlehem Church Road was flooded, too, near the Dan River. The Mayo River in Madison was unusually high and swift, littered with logs and debris.

The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office sent a list out at midday showing road closures due to water:

· US 220 Business at the train overpass

· River Road and Deep Springs

· River Road and Settle Bridge Road

· Oregon Hill Road near Aspen Road

· NC 135 near Dan Valley Golf Course (one lane)

· Simpson Road and Taylor Road

· Grogan Road

· 2618 Sandy Cross Road
