HIGH POINT, N.C. — From parking decks to roads to golf courses, many parts of High Point were underwater after heavy rain moved through the area Tuesday morning.
The High Point Fire Department responded to 33 weather-related calls beginning at 7:30 a.m. They included two water rescues and four car accidents.
A man had to be rescued after his car became stranded in water on Elm Street and Ray Avenue.
Officers said the primary area of flooding was near the hospital.
Barricades were in place on the following roads: Elm, Lindsay, Gatewood, Ferndale, Chestnut, Elm, Green, Orlando and Ray. Authorities were asking motorists to avoid those areas.
