GIBSONVILLE, N.C. — A Gibsonville woman was arrested on Monday in connection to a bizarre kidnapping case.

Just before 4 p.m. on Sept. 11, the Gibsonville Police Department responded to an emergency call on Burlington Avenue.

When officers arrived they found a man holding his 2-year-old son on the side of the road.

The father told police that a family member of his son’s babysitter drove away with his child in the car after they had anĀ argument about an injury the child sustained while in the babysitter’s care.

When the woman drove off, the father chased the vehicle down Burlington Avenue on foot.

Eventually, the woman stoppedĀ but refused to unlock the doors so the man could pull his son out of the vehicle.

After several attempts, the father was able to rescue his son.

The woman driving the vehicle was later identified as 28-year-old Janice Nicole Martin, of Gibsonville.

Martin was arrested on second-degree kidnapping charges on Sept. 28. She was placed in the Alamance County Detention Center under a $3,500 secured bond.
