Winston-Salem woman pepper-sprayed at church in attempted robbery

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Police are searching for the man that pepper-sprayed a woman in a church parking lot during an attempted robbery Friday night.

Police said Pamela Young, 40, was in the parking lot of Lexwin Baptist Church on Wainwright Street when a suspect approached and asked her for a light.

When Young responded that she didn’t smoke, the suspect pepper-sprayed her in the face and attempted to take her purse, said police.

Police said Young was able to pull her purse back and the suspect ran away.

No one injured during this incident, according to authorities.

Police describe the suspect as a white male, in his 30s, wearing a blue hoodie and shorts.
