Man who survived North Carolina plane crash wants to fly again

WHISPERING PINES, N.C. — Fred Para is luckier than many. The 72-year-old survived a plane crash that left him with a severed foot and hand, and broken bones.

The accident on June 2, in a wooded area near the Siler City Airport in Chatham County, killed his wife Barbara.

Despite all that, Para says he wants to fly again. Friends say his attitude and the speed of his recovery is nothing short of remarkable.
