The Indianapolis Zoo was on lockdown Sunday morning after a cheetah named Pounce escaped from its exhibit, the Indianapolis Star reported.

The cheetah left its enclosure and a Code Red was issued at the zoo, meaning all guests had to remain inside.

A zoo spokeswoman said it is unclear how the cheetah was able to escape the exhibit.

Officials used a tranquilizer dart to subdue the cheetah. After being darted, the cheetah ran back to its exhibit.

An investigation to determine how the cheetah escaped is underway.
