Armed man shot, killed after allegedly pointing weapon at NC officers
DURHAM, N.C. — A man was shot and killed after he pointed a gun at North Carolina police officers during a standoff, according to officials.
WRAL reported that police in Durham were called to a report of an armed suicidal individual on Saturday morning.
Authorities tried to get the man to drop his weapon for about 30 minutes, but were unable to, according to reports.
At some point, the man allegedly pointed his weapon at officers and started walking toward them. That’s when he was fatally shot.
The 21-year-old unnamed man was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital, according to officials.
The four officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
