FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — By all accounts, Samuel Emmanuel Snider and Janet Sheppard Petty had a volatile relationship during the six years they were together.

Snider, 52, pleaded guilty Monday to voluntary manslaughter in Petty’s death.

Judge David Hall of Forsyth Superior Court sentenced Snider to between eight years and nine months and 11 years and three months in prison.
