SC woman charged with murder in alleged poisoning of NC boyfriend

POLK COUNTY, N.C. — A woman is facing a murder charge after detectives say she poisoned her boyfriend, ultimately killing him.

Brittany Crockett, 27 of Landrum, S.C., has been in jail since July 9 in Transylvania County for an outstanding warrant for an unrelated open-container charge.

Crockett’s boyfriend, Jeffrey Brittain, 51 of Mill Spring, died on Wednesday after being on a ventilator for about a week.

One week ago is when the Polk County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation into his poisoning because he had been sick for weeks.
