Greensboro garbage truck gets caught in power lines, overturns

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A Greensboro garbage truck overturned Wednesday morning after getting caught in several power lines.

The truck overturned at the intersection of Burnt Poplar and Chimney Rock roads at 10:12 a.m.

Police said the driver was headed eastbound on Burnt Poplar Road and tried to turn left onto Chimney Rock Road when the truck snagged the power lines.

The driver was pulled from the truck and taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The road was closed while crews worked to repair the downed lines. The road was reopened at about 3:15 p.m.

At this time, it is unclear what caused the crash.
