STOKES COUNTY, N.C. — The suspect involved in a stand off in Stokes County is now at large, according to authorities.

Deputies said the woman rescued from the home Sunday night waited until 4:30 a.m. Monday to tell authorities she knew her husband headed toward the back door as she was being removed from the home.

Investigators said they don’t believe the man is still in the area.

Rockingham and Stokes County deputies searched the home and only found outstanding warrants for the man’s arrest.

The incident happened at a home in Pine Hall around 7:30 p.m. Sunday when a person called 911 and hung up.

Deputies responded to the home and realized it was a domestic situation involving a couple. A man showed deputies a gun and asked everyone to leave.

The woman was eventually removed from the home and the stand off continued overnight.
