MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — A group of illegal immigrants interrupted a model’s beach fashion shoot as they sprinted from a boat to the shore earlier this month.

According to the New Times Broward-Palm Beach, Ekaterina Juskowski was filming her friend, a model, when she noticed a boat coming to shore on July 10. She initially turned off her camera, thinking it was just a scuba boat that was “ruining [her] video,” she said.

When Juskowski saw the men darting to shore, she turned her camera back on and recorded the incident.

“That’s a testament to how confident these organizations are — what we call transnational criminal organizations — who smuggle criminals and narcotics right onto the beach,” U.S. Border Patrol spokesperson Frank Miller told the New Times.

Miller added, “There has been an increase in known maritime smuggling in Florida — from Key West all along the Florida coast — from fiscal year 2014 to now.”

Juskowski, who migrated to the United States from Russia when she was 18 as a college student, told the New Times, “Witnessing people starting their life anew by jumping off the boat and running into the city made my personal struggle seem rather small.”
