6-year-old North Carolina boy located; Amber Alert lifted

[Update 9:10 p.m.]  — Jaylen Jo’el “Jay” McClain, 6, was back with his mother Monday night, about an hour after the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office issued an Amber Alert for him, according to WRAL.

Deputies said the boy is safe.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — An Amber Alert has been issued for a missing 6-year-old North Carolina boy.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is searching for Jaylien Jo’el “Jay” McClain. He is approximately 4 feet 11 inches tall, 48 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black basketball shirt, khaki shorts, white socks and red shoes.

Allegedly, the abductor is Derrick Jamaal McClain, according to the North Carolina Department of Safety. Derrick McClain is described as a 29-year-old black male who is approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall, 170 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing light-colored blue jeans.

The child was taken from Christ Worship Center in Parkton. The abductor is allegedly operating a late model silver Buick or Saturn.
