MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. — A North Carolina mother was pleasantly surprised when a stranger paid her bill at a restaurant because of how she handled her screaming toddler.

ABC News reported that Raleigh mother Melissa Wistehuff was recently vacationing on the North Carolina coast with her husband and three kids when it happened.

“We’ve got a 7-year-old, a 5-year-old, and a 2-year-old, and it was our 2-year-old that was acting like he was 2,” the mother said.

2-year-old Ian was throwing a temper tantrum at a restaurant in Morehead City, so she took him outside.

The toddler eventually calmed down and she brought him back in. But he then started screaming again.

This time, the boy’s father took him outside and the mother asked for the check. That’s when she noticed somebody had paid for them.

The waiter told the mother that a stranger was impressed by how she handled the situation and paid their bill, which was about $86.
