Man accused of shooting father inside Reidsville funeral home arrested

REIDSVILLE, N.C. — A man accused of shooting and injuring his father at a funeral home in Reidsville has been arrested.

Garcia Johnson turned himself in to authorities in Rockingham County at about 10 p.m. Friday after allegedly shooting his father earlier in the day.

The shooting was reported at about 9:20 a.m. at the Johnson and Son Funeral Home at 115 Holderby St. in Reidsville. There is no word on a possible motive.

Garcia Johnson allegedly shot 76-year-old James Johnson while inside the funeral home. After the shooting, Garcia Johnson allegedly left the scene.

James Johnson is out of surgery and was listed in stable condition as of Friday evening. He owns the funeral home.

The suspect was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill. He jailed under a $1 million bond and has court planned for August 12.
