Police investigating exchange of gunfire in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Police are investigating an exchange of gunfire between a bicyclist and motorist that struck nearby buildings but did not result in injuries.

Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of West Florida Street at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday after an anonymous caller notified Guilford Metro 911 of the incident.

Witnesses told police that a man on a bicycle and a man in a silver or gray Toyota Camry produced handguns and began firing at each other. Neither was struck, however, the Florida Street Grocery Store at 803 W. Florida St. and an unoccupied apartment at 800 W. Florida St. were hit with stray rounds.

Witnesses were unable to provide a description of the man on the bicycle or any additional information about the occupant of the vehicle.

A motive for the shooting is unknown at this time.
