Virginia artist to create a sculpture in downtown Greensboro made of ladders
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Lend him a ladder, and Charlie Brouwer will turn it into a towering piece of public art, according to The Greensboro News & Record.
Actually, the Virginia artist will need lots of borrowed ladders — 300 to 400 — of various sizes and types to build a sculpture on a downtown lot.
Titled “Rise Together Greensboro,” Brouwer’s creation comes to the city courtesy of the Public Art Endowment of the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro.
The temporary sculpture will spend much of September on the vacant lot at 122 E. Lindsay St. It’s the former site of the Greensboro Inn, razed to make way for the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts.
