Child killed, 4 injured in North Wilkesboro wreck

NORTH WILKESBORO, N.C. — A child was killed in a two-vehicle wreck in North Wilkesboro on Wednesday morning, according to Wilkes County EMS.

Shortly after 11 a.m., Wilkes EMS and the North Wilkesboro Fire Department were dispatched to a wreck at the intersection of West D Street and Old Brickyard Road.

Crews arrived at the scene to find a two-vehicle wreck.

Wilkes County EMS said one person was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Three people were transported to Wilkes Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

A child was pronounced dead, Wilkes County EMS said.

The cause of the wreck has not been disclosed.
