CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Carowinds has added lights to a portion of the new Fury 325 roller coaster for thrill seekers riding at night.

The amusement park tweeted Sunday about the new lights on the 325-foot tall ride that opened in March.

The thrill ride has an 81-degree initial drop and reaches speeds of 95 mph. It’s part of a $50 million multi-year expansion of the park.

The giga coaster is 20 feet taller than the Statue of Liberty. The park’s general manager said riders feel a full four seconds of weightlessness on the first drop.

The roller coaster is the fifth-tallest steel roller coaster and one of the 10 fastest in the world.
